Big 10 on X (Twitter) - Yea or Nay

The Big 10-Inch Record has had a Twitter (now X) feed for several years, but I think it's time to put it to rest. X deprecates posts with links and favors posters who have a paid membership. Also, the site prizes "engagement" - i.e., provocative content and extreme opinions. My sense is that any posts I make to X are seen by only a minority of people who follow the account, making the work involved not worth the while.

However, I would be happy to find that there is a groundswell of support for continuing the feed. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I don't do X, so it means nothing to me. I do appreciate this website immensely.

I don't use X, and never intend to. Plus, I love the extensive notes you provide with each post on blogspot--even if I'm not interested in that particular recording, I always learn something!

Yes, please dump X. There's plenty of platforms better than that- Substack, Mastodon, Bluesky...
Ive been off xitter for a long time. Used to enjoy it, but i dont miss it.
Great blog btw.

Yes, dump X, it's biased and outdated, like Elon

Hi, what do you care about X? Keep up the good work here. Thanks and regards.

Hi Buster, why X?
Just look at who runs these Social Media groups and for what purposes?

I think you'd do well to ditch them.

Twitter (yes, I will always call it that) is nothing like it was intended. I've slowly weaned myself off and hardly ever use it. Good bye to bad rubbish is what I say. And besides, it will now give you MORE time to tend to your much read blogs!!!! It's a win-win!!!

Thanks, Jammy!

Stephen - So glad you like my notes (and the music).

Buster said...

Rick - I try to stay off X myself! Thanks for the compliment!

Anon - Agree

paloborraho - I probably didn't explain myself well. The X feed is solely to announce new posts here.

Buster said...

Bryan - Twitter was a good way to announce new material.

Buster said...

JWDen - You're probably right!

John - Those are my thoughts as well.

Don't use X, don't need it, or Facebook for that matter. I check your blog every few days in anticipation of more good stuff. ;-)

Buster said...

Grover - Always glad to see you!

I agree with the majority that don't visit you on "X" (I wouldn't use that platform if you paid me to.) Also, as mentioned elsewhere, your blogger presentations include the notes you so thoroughly compose for use, which means as much to me as the music. :-)

Buster, I would countenance against using X and indeed all other social media. My experience is that could have been a useful tool has in fact become a platform for all the dispossessed and lunatic fringes of our world where they can rant, rave and spout the most dreadful filth and where they can all join together and effect the opinions of millions of the most vulnerable. Yes, ditch it for your own and this blogs well being.

Never used it and have no intention of doing so - my time is too valuable to have time to access it.

Okay, I misunderstood, not being used to "X."
Anyway, Happy Easter and thanks for your work.

Thanks, mike!

Man - I hear you. Thanks for the note!

Douglas - Good thoughts. Thanks!

I vote no on "X" I now feel lucky that I never joined. It sounds incredibly toxic and toxic is something I've never associated with this blog.

I was never a user on Twitter or X. If I have something to say it usually takes more than 167 characters, or whatever the limit used to be. Certainly up to you whether or not you dump it, but it's not going to matter to me either way. I'm old-school. :)

rev.b - I hear you!

Ernie - Thanks! Makes sense.

eXit without scuple ..

moos - I will probably do just that.

Well I did follow you, then the algorithms decided I had ‘better’ things to follow (arghhh) so you got pushed down the track! If you continue X-ing I will definitely fire up the wagon, but otherwise I’m happy to check-in every other day here! Keep up the fabulous work with your amazing collection of interesting & informative posts with well mastered recordings! Thanks for everything you do, it’s very much appreciated! 😀

Nik - Very glad to hear from an X follower. Your note confirms my suspicions about the site. It also is flattering, so many thanks!
